Product Description

Bed Wood - Standard Grade

Your bed is the largest surface of your classic truck and its structure and appearance is crucial to it's look and ride. At Classic Parts we know how important using the right quality of wood is when restoring your Classic Truck.  Therefore, we use only quality, cabinet grade, kiln-dried, Red Oak. Our wood is cut to size, with edges grooved, ready to install and finish. All boards are 3/4" thick and are cut to exact widths to match the original GM bed pattern.

Although wood is a natural product and will vary in grain, color, pattern and character, we hand select and sort our wood to provide you with the best quality product at the lowest price.  Our "Standard" Wood may have some small knots and a more pronounced grain but is a look that a lot of our customers like.  We call it "character". Whether you are restoring your own classic truck or just want to repair what you have...Classic Parts understands how important the quality and integrity of your bed wood is to your project.  Buy from us with confidence

  • Standard Quality cabinet grade Red Oak

*Please Note: This item is "Oversized" and requires an Oversized Shipping Charge as noted above. Wood is a natural product that is susceptible to humidity, rain, sun, and weather conditions.  Classic Parts recommends that you stain, paint or seal your wood to protect it from checking, spitting, and cracking.

Wood Finish Tips
(This is a suggestion only!)

We suggest you consult with a local finish or woodworking/cabinetry shop for the best finish to use.

Location and climate vary so there may be more suitable application for your specific area.

Mounting holes need to be located and drilled before you apply wood finish so that the insides of all holes will be sealed.

You will need to completely finish the wood before installing.

Procedure:

  1. 1. Sand with a fine grit sand paper.
  2. 2. Clean boards with lacquer thinner using soft clean rags. Be sure there are no grease marks or finger prints anywhere on the wood.
  3. 3. Apply wood sealer
*follow instructions according to the sealer you use.
  4. 4. Allow the sealer to dry the recommended time.
  5. 5. Apply 2-5 coats of oil base Exterior Varnish
**Note: Be sure to apply the finish to all areas of the boards, ends, holes, edges, 6. tops and bottoms.
  6. 6. Allow to dry between each coat.
  7. 7. Sand lightly between coats of varnish.
